Flaunting lifestyles
The Freeman
|September 02, 2025
The tale of the subdued flood control projects has now dragged on to the images of the people behind the huge ticket projects.
These are the contractors who, ideally, were hired based on their capability, skill, and resources to finish the task. The focus shifted when children of these individuals and other related fields recently floated online in a seemingly proud way of boasting their luxurious lifestyles. We see them travel across the world in their multiple designer outfits. They post photos in business-class cabins, pose in front of European landmarks, and flaunt luxury bags and jewelry without a care in the world. Now that Filipinos are more aware, many are intrigued about their personal lives, questioning how much of these displays are fruits of honest work or something else entirely.
To the ordinary individuals, it is their taxes that funded this crazy-rich lifestyle. No one would easily get rich with just a snap of a finger. They may claim to be hardworking but often leave out the details of how they achieved such wealth in so short a span of time. Others claim to work hard to get more than what should be paid for, raising the suspicion that public funds were utilized. All we know may be surface level, and all may remain allegations for now, but hopefully the truth will come out soon. What's shady though is their courage to let the whole internet know that they have more than others. While many are suffering due to meager wages, these privileged few are spending on expensive objects, hoping it will bring them more joy.
