Councilor: No public funds spent in travel to Europe

Chan-Olmstead, who sits in the City Council as president of the Liga ng mga Barangay-Lapu-Lapu City Chapter, said the trip was a gift from her husband and was their first travel abroad together.

Chan-Olmstead, daughter of Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Rep. Junard “Ahong” Chan and Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” King-Chan, denied allegations that her outfits and travel lifestyle reflected the misuse of public funds.
“Just want to clarify once and for all about aning trip sa Europe. Regalo ni sa akong bana ka isa rami kaadto,” she said.
“Trip ra nako mag ilis2 sanina mao mura’g kapila nako didto. Mga sanina nako pangitaa ninyos shopee makit-an ra didto mao naman jud ni akong kina-iya ang pagka kikay,” she added.
She explained that she could afford the travel because of her personal savings and investments, having worked since college. She also apologized to her constituents in Barangay Basak and to Oponganons in general if her posts were misunderstood.
