The Cebu City Council has called on the Office of the Cebu City Mayor to reconsider the suspension of the “Tugbong Tabo sa City Hall,” which was supposed to feature the produce of local farmers in front of the Plaza Sugbo Grounds.

The activity has reportedly been stopped despite being supported by an ordinance.

The request was made through a privilege speech of Councilor Pastor “Jun” Alcover, who stood before the council as the chairman of the Committee on Agriculture.

His speech was anchored on the program “Tugbong Tabo sa City Hall,” which he said is backed by Ordinance No. 2365, otherwise known as “An Ordinance Institutionalizing a Weekly Weekend Market at the Cebu City Hall Grounds.”

Alcover said he observed that for two weeks now, the activity has been stopped and is no longer operational. According to him, he was informed by some farmers directly involved in selling agricultural products that the reason for the suspension was the unavailability of tents.
