CERA calls for energy task force ahead of polls

The Cebu Electricity Rights Advocates (CERA) is urging the Department of Energy (DOE) to urgently convene the Energy Task Force Election (ETFE), amid growing concerns over the stability of the country's power supply in the lead-up to the national elections.

The ETFE-mandated to ensure uninterrupted electricity during the electoral process and uphold the credibility of the polls is composed of the DOE, Commission on Elections (COMELEC), and Department of National Defense (DND).

In a bid to strengthen transparency and accountability, CERA is pushing for the inclusion of private sector stakeholders in the task force.

The group has proposed the participation of organizations such as the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), and Cebu Citizens Involvement and Maturation in People's Empowerment and Liberation (C-CPIL), alongside CERA itself.
