Cebu City gov't shuts down 3 cockpits for lack of permits

A cease-and-desist order has been issued against three cockpits in Cebu City—two of which are located in the mountain barangays—after authorities found that they lacked the necessary permits to operate.
Councilor Pastor "Jun" Alcover, chairman of the Committee on Games and Amusement, said the city only recognizes four authorized cockfighting arenas.
In an interview yesterday, Alcover said he was informed that the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) issued the orders on Thursday, although he was not notified beforehand. He initially learned that the affected cockpits were located in Barangays Malubog, Agsungot, and Tejero.
