Cebu City cuts 50 tons of waste

The mayor said the city aims to sustain the reduction, noting that certain areas have already posted significant decreases in waste volume.

At the Carbon Public Market alone, Archival said garbage output has been reduced by about 15 tons per day.
He added that the city had targeted a 20-ton reduction in the area last Friday, January 30, especially if no manpower concerns could affect operations. “So, 20 tons by P3,000 is P60,000 ato’ng ma-reduce,” he said.
Archival also said that waste diversion efforts in at least 30 upland barangays could further reduce garbage volume by a minimum of 30 tons daily if each barangay diverts at least one ton of waste.
