To alleviate the traffic congestion in the Banilad-Talamban-Pit-os (BanTal) areas, the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) announced it will impose a new traffic scheme starting Monday, June 23.

The CCTO said it will include the rerouting of Tintay-bound Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) and the banning of trucks during peak hours.

From 4 to 8 p.m., PUVs headed toward Tintay will now turn right from Talamban Road to Highway 77, make its exit near the barangay hall, then head right towards Tintay. This route will skip the traffic-prone Talamban gym area.

CCTO Head Racquel Arce said a truck ban will also be implemented during peak hours starting Monday, not just in BanTal areas, but in the entire city.

“According to the law, exempted unta ang garbage trucks. Pero sa meeting ganiha, nasabutan nga apil na pod ang basura sa truck ban,” Arce said.

The truck ban is lifted on Sundays and holidays, she said. Those who are found violating the truck ban will be fined with P500.
