CCENRO: Pond A close to passing all water quality tests

Despite being located in a reclaimed area, Pond A at the South Road Properties (SRP) may soon become the first water body in Cebu City's highly urbanized zone to pass all water quality testing standards.

The pond has passed nine out of eleven parameters during recent water sampling conducted by the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO).

Engr. Myka Llanos of CCENRO, who heads the testing team, told The Freeman on Tuesday that Pond A was not initially included in the city-wide water quality assessments, as it has yet to be officially classified under a specific category of water body.

However, testing moved forward after wildlife was observed in the area. Llanos noted the presence of species that typically cannot thrive near human activity, yet appear to be flourishing at SRP. She emphasized that this is unusual, given the area's exposure to human-related or "anthropogenic" activities.
