The Team BluMerVin Gambit! bannered by National Master Merben Roque, Vincent Balena and Triton Blue Ares Garcia dominated the Tatluhan category of the 4th Hinulawan Joyful Cup Chess Tournament 2025 held last Friday, June 6, at the Toledo City Badminton Center in Barangay Sangi.

They actually figured in a triple-tie with the Cebu AZ Kings and the Kingslayer on identical 12.0 match points but the BluMerVin Gambit! emerged as champion courtesy of their higher tiebreak output. They pocketed P15,000 for their efforts.
The Cebu AZ Kings of Allan Salientes, Joel Pacuribot and Angelo Tan took home P10,000 for placing second while the Kingslayer of Chris Aldritz Pondoyo, Arena Grandmaster Michael Joseph Pagaran and Marlowe Leyco claimed the P8,000 third prize.
