Bishops stress loyalty to Constitution, not personalities

Metro bishops urged the public not to resort to "extra-constitutional" acts to solve the country's problems.

In a pastoral letter released on Saturday, November 16, Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula urged the public, including the police and the military, to uphold the rule of law.
"We must always adhere to the rule of law and resist any calls for extra-constitutional means to solve our problems," Advincula's pastoral statement read.
"Our loyalty must be to our country and its democratic principles, not to persons, and certainly not to ambition," it added.
He also emphasized that in public discussions and large gatherings, people should let reason guide them rather than emotion.
