President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. received outgoing Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian in a farewell courtesy call at Malacafian Palace on Thursday, September 25, where he thanked the diplomat for his service while lamenting their lack of progress on South China Sea issues.
-
Marcos thanked Huang, who assumed his post in December 2019, for strengthening bilateral ties during his more than four years in Manila. “I think you have made a very good second home already here in Manila,” the president said, as quoted in a statement by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Marcos also recognized the challenges in Manila’s relations with Beijing, particularly over the West Philippine Sea — the part of the South China Sea that falls within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone.

"Not to destroy souls, but to save"
That’s what Christ told his disciples, James and John, who, feeling aghast that the Samaritans were not welcoming to Christ, suggested that fire come down from heaven to consume them. (cfr. Lk 9,51-56) Of course, Christ rebuked them, telling them straight that they did not have the right spirit.
