Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival has committed to a “modest” celebration of the city's Charter Day, as he is set to lead its commemoration for the first time since assuming office.

According to him, the 89th Charter Day on February 24, 2026, will highlight the recognition of City Hall employees and outstanding institutions, reflecting his belief that the essence of the occasion lies in honoring contributions rather than staging lavish festivities.
The awarding will be split into two dates, beginning on February 20 with recognition for exemplary City Hall employees, followed by a testimonial dinner on February 24 for institutions, corporations, and individuals who have distinguished themselves in service to the city.
