The Freeman
|June 04, 2025
Basketball legend Ramon Fernandez looks forward to a successful staging of the 2nd El Presidente Charity Golf Tournament on June 13 at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in Carmona as he hopes to help more promising Filipino athletes that could excel on the world stage someday.
The former Philippine Sports Commissioner and his wife Fernandez Karla have chosen the fast-rising golfer David Charles Serdenia as the first athlete beneficiary of the Ramon S. Fernandez Sports and Youth Development Foundation (RSFSYDF).
Known as the “Commute Boy”, the 16-year-old Serdenia is a son of a caddy at the Philippine Navy Golf Club. He has already secured numerous championships in his budding career despite financial challenges.
To aid his journey, the foundation has committed a P10,000 financial assistance for Serdenia until May 2026. After one year, a review will be made.
With Serdenia preparing to compete in US tournaments this year, the foundation had decided to advance the full year's stipend to ensure his focus remains solely on his game.
