Ahong bares lineup of infra projects

|July 01, 2025
As he prepares to take his seat in Congress, Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Representative Junard "Ahong" Chan has announced several infrastructure projects lined up for his termmany of them turned over by his predecessor and wife, former Congresswoman Ma. Cynthia King-Chan, now the city mayor.
-
Chan said there is much work to do, particularly in continuing the projects initiated by his wife. Topping his list is expediting roadwork in Barangay Babag, which has been temporarily closed and rerouted to a one-way lane due to an ongoing concreting project covering about 200 to 300 meters.
He said one solution to traffic congestion in Barangay Babag is to widen the road.
Chan noted that the road from Canjulao to Barangay Babag is classified as a cadastral road, which legally spans 15 meters in width. However, the actual width currently ranges only from 6 to 7 meters. This gives him an opportunity, he said, to widen it by another 8 to 9 meters during his term.
"The good thing is, there's no need for expropriation expenses since the land belongs to the government," Chan added.
