ADB okays $400M loan for food stamp program

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $400-million loan to expand the government's food stamp program and help address hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition in the Philippines.

In a statement, the multilateral lender said that the loan for the Reducing Food Insecurity and Undernutrition with Electronic Vouchers Project would support the government in expanding its Walang Gutom (Zero Hunger) Food Stamp Program.
Cofinancing the project are the Agence Française de Développement through a $220 million (200 million euros) loan and the OPEC Fund for International Development with a loan worth $150 million.
