Aboitiz InfraCapital Water is looking to expand its footprint in Cebu as the province faces a widening gap between water supply and fast-rising demand driven by population growth, property development and economic expansion, according to Ramon Aboitiz Tuason, assistant vice president and head of strategy and growth at Aboitiz InfraCapital Water.

Speaking at the Cebu International Investment Summit held yesterday January 13 at the Capitol Sociall Hall, Tuason said the group is keen to replicate in Cebu the public-private partnership (PPP) model that underpins its flagship bulk water project in Davao City.

“Cebu’s growth has always been part of the Aboitiz story, and with that comes the need to make sure infrastructure—especially water—keeps pace,” Tuason said. “We are keen to be part of the solution to Cebu’s water supply.”

Through Apo Agua Infrastructura Inc., a joint venture with the Davao City Water District, Aboitiz InfraCapital Water currently delivers about 300 million liters of treated water a day, lifting 24-hour water coverage in Davao to about 96 percent of customers.

Phil Jackson has an interesting analogy in determining the chances of an NBA team winning the championship — if a team reaches 40 wins in the regular season before losing 20 games, it has a real chance of making it to the Finals.
