In the past, birthday treats from Belmont Hotel Mactan and Savoy Hotel Mactan arrived sweetly at my office, and last February 10, love was in the air when heart-shaped Danish croissants were personally delivered by Janna Rae Nabua and Sam De Ramos.

Recently, Belmont Hotel marked a new chapter in rebranding as Mercure Mactan Cebu at the Mactan Newtown, operating under global hospitality group Accor, the France-based brand that manages more than 5,600 hotels across 110 countries.
I received an invite to the newly-rebranded hotel's Lunar New Year celebrations this year.
Upon arrival, a festive signboard greeted guests with a cheerful "Gong Xi Fa Cai!" I reached for a fortune cookie and paired its sweet crunch with a comforting cup of coffee.
