During last year's State of the Nation Address (SONA) one of the biggest rounds of applause came after the announcement of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that he was making Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs) illegal.

That was because at the time it had become one of the biggest problems in the country, what with its enabling of criminal syndicates and branching out into other areas of crime.
"Effective today, all POGOs are banned," he had said a year ago to thunderous applause.
