65% of city fire hydrants malfunctioning – report

Majority of over 200 fire hydrants in Cebu City are either malfunctioning or completely non-functional, significantly hampering operations during fire emergency.

A report from the Cebu City Fire Office submitted to the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CCDRRMC) reveals that 65% of the city's fire hydrants are unserviceable.
According to the report, Cebu City has a total of 226 fire hydrants strategically located throughout various areas.
The City's Public Information Office (PIO) disclosed that the report indicates 42 hydrants are completely non-functional—either due to a lack of water supply, mechanical defects, or abandonment.
