Trump threat to slap more tariffs on India
The Free Press Journal
|December 10, 2025
US President Trump has said India should not be “dumping” rice into the American market and promised to “take care” of the issue, stressing that tariffs will easily solve the problem.
Speaking at a White House roundtable on Monday with representatives from the farming and agriculture sector, along with senior cabinet officials, he announced $12 billion aid for farmers. During the meeting, Meryl Kennedy, who runs her family agribusiness in Louisiana, said rice producers in the south are “struggling” as other countries are “dumping” rice into the US market.
