Udgir unveils Ambedkar memorial with fireworks

Udgir witnessed a historic and emotional moment on Thursday night as the life-size statue and memorial of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar, conceptualised by former minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) MLA Sanjay Bansode, were inaugurated amid chants of ‘Jai Bhim’, dazzling fireworks and a shower of flowers.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was scheduled to unveil the statue but could not attend due to other commitments, officials said. In his absence, MLC Amol Mitkari read out a congratulatory message sent by Pawar.
