UDF MLAs suspended for 'violent' behaviour
The Free Press Journal - Mumbai
|October 10, 2025
Three members of the United Democratic Front were suspended from the Kerala Legislative Assembly on Thursday after a violent altercation during a session.
The disturbance, which included loud protests and unruly behaviour over the controversial Sabarimala gold scandal, led Speaker A N Shamseer to take decisive action, invoking the relevant provisions of the Assembly Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business.
The suspended MLAs, Roji M John, M Vincent, and Saneeshkumar Joseph, were accused of engaging in violent conduct that disrupted the assembly's proceedings. The incident escalated when the three legislators were reportedly seen rushing towards the Chief Minister, ringing bells without permission, and making aggressive movements toward the Speaker's podium.
