Surge rate cap, rest for drivers in draft policy for app rides

Aim is to address concerns around fare transparency, passenger safety, service quality and driver welfare
In a move set to significantly reshape the app-based transport sector, the state government on Friday released the draft of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Aggregator Rules, 2025.
As per the draft rules, aggregators, including Ola, Uber and Rapido, cannot raise fares beyond 1.5 times during rush hours or festive seasons. The regulations are designed to protect the interests of both drivers and passengers, while ensuring fair business practices.
