Shinde urges Dhangekar to end land row
The Free Press Journal - Mumbai
|October 27, 2025
The political temperature in Pune has risen over the past fortnight as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena have clashed over the Jain Boarding House land deal involving former MLA Ravindra Dhangekar and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who visited Alandi on Sunday, advised Dhangekar to "end the matter."
Mohol has been under scrutiny for his alleged involvement in the sale of land owned by the Seth Hirachand Nemchand Smarak Trust (SHNT). The plot includes a temple and a hostel belonging to the Jain community. Gokhale Builders, reportedly Mohol's former partners, purchased the land in what many allege was an unfair transaction. Community members and local politicians claim the Trust received less than the market value and that the land, meant for charitable purposes, is now being diverted for commercial use.
