BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar lost his temper when pressed by reporters over the handling of the suicide of councilor K. Anil Kumar, known as Thirumala Anil, and the alleged assault on media personnel covering his death.

Anil Kumar, who held the Thirumala ward seat, was found dead in his party office. In a note left behind, he accused district leadership of the BJP of abandoning him during financial distress tied to the Valiyasala Farm Tour Society. The society is reported to have extended loans amounting to several crores, with significant liabilities once many borrowers defaulted.
