Sel-vaperunthagai has firmly rejected any negotiations between his party and the actor-led party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam concerning an alliance for the 2026 Assembly election. Speaking at Chennai airport, he stressed that the phone conversation between Rahul Gandhi and TVK founder Vijay was strictly humanitarian, a condolence call following the Karur tragedy, and should not be framed as political manoeuvring.
