TALEGAON DABHADE-URULI KANCHAN ROW

- Varad Bhatkhande

District Collector Jitendra Dudi on Monday assured farmers and villagers opposing the proposed Talegaon Dabhade-Uruli Kanchan railway line that a solution would be found to address their concerns over land acquisition.

A meeting with railway officials has been scheduled for Nov 7 to discuss possible changes to the proposed alignment.

The assurance came during a meeting held at the Pune Collectorate with villagers from Khed and Maval tehsils, who have objected to the railway line, citing loss of farmland and homes. “We will find a way,’ Collector Dudi told the villagers. “Planning of the Talegaon Dabhade-Uruli Kanchan railway line is ongoing, and we can see the opposition to it. On Nov 7, a meeting will be held with officials from Indian Railways. We will see in that meeting whether the railway route can be altered. We will also make sure farmers’ losses don't happen,” the official assured.
