Bihar deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader Samrat Choudhary faces an uphill task of carrying forward his father and veteran politician Shakuni Choudhary's legacy alive by winning the Tarapur constituency in Munger district in the upcoming Bihar assembly election.

Tarapur assembly constituency will go to the polls in the first phase of election, scheduled to be held on November 6. The second phase election will be held on November 11 while results will be declared on November 14. Deputy CM Samart Choudharys father Shakuni Choudhary has represented Tarapur six times, winning as an Independent as well as on tickets of the Congress, Samata Party, its later avatar JD (U), and RJD. Shakuni's wife, Parvati Devi, had also won from Tarapur.
