Fighting the BMC polls together, the Thackeray cousins, Uddhav and Raj, on Sunday released 'Shabda Thackerancha' - their joint manifesto - sounding the bugle for the high-stakes contest. The event marked MNS president Raj's return to Sena Bhavan after nearly two decades.

The manifesto promised 'Swabhiman Nidhi', a monthly allowance of Rs1,500 for househelps and women from the Koli community on the lines of the Mahayuti government's Ladki Bahin Yojana, which provides a similar amount to eligible women between 21 and 65 years. It further assured 100 units of free power for residential use through the BEST Undertaking and vowed to take efforts to extend this to the eastern and western suburbs.
