Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu’s ministry for Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments announced today that 48 idols stolen from temples have been recovered and another 28 traced abroad, and that temple assets worth ₹8,015 crore have been restored to state control since the DMK assumed office.
In parallel, the department has launched an extensive boundary-marking _ initiative, erecting 1,41820 boundary stones across temple lands.
HR&CE Minister P. K. Sekarbabu made the revelation while presenting certificates to 108 students trained in temple arts and Vedic music. He said the consecration of 3,707 temples—among them 100 of significant antiquity—had been completed, and he expressed confidence of crossing the 4,000-temple mark by January. A five-member Agama committee meeting is to be convened based on a favourable court order.
