Stalin renews push for Coimbatore, Madurai metro

Tamil Nadu has reopened its case for metro rail systems in Coimbatore and Madurai after Chief Minister M K Stalin wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging a reconsideration of the Centre's earlier decision to turn down the two projects, senior state officials said.

The move sets the stage for a fresh appraisal by New Delhi following additional material assembled to challenge the assessment that projected ridership does not warrant metro networks in the two cities. Officials said the revised justification has been cleared within the state and will be forwarded for central scrutiny. The submission has b
