Model Colony land row sparks Jain protests

NCP-SP and AAP slam the ruling coalition; Jain guru threatens with fast unto death if deed isn’t cancelled

The Jains launched a protest on Friday after 3.5 acres of land belonging to the community in Model Colony was allegedly "snatched away through several conspiracies”.

A Jain guru said he would abstain from food until the sale agreement is cancelled. "I will abstain from food from today until the sale agreement is cancelled. Till then, I will eat only fruits, and if the government does not cancel all this within 15 days, I will go on a hunger strike to death at the same place from Nov 1," he said. "Our temple is in this hostel space (Seth Hirachand Nemchand Jain Boarding), our religion is taught, our poor children are taught, all corruption has taken place in this, and all this will come to light, but our movement will continue until the agreement is cancelled,” the guru added.
