ED LETTER | Enforcement Directorate writes to state police seeking FIR

- HD Bureau

A letter from the Enforcement Directorate to the Tamil Nadu Police accuses the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department of recruitment irregularities involving 2,538 posts, alleging bribes of 225 lakh to %35 lakh per position, and naming at least 150 candidates as beneficiaries.

The letter, submitted under Section 66 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, cites evidence gathered during raids and contends that mid-2024 examinations were manipulated and appointment orders delivered in August 2025. According to ED claims, powerful politicians or their associates orchestrated the scheme, rigging the selection process and effectively sidelining meritorious applicants.
