In significant decisions, the Karnataka Cabinet on Wednesday recommended replacing Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with ballot papers in all upcoming local body elections and accepted the report giving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah a clean chit in the controversial MUDA land allotment case.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil, who briefed the media after the Cabinet meeting, said the Cabinet had resolved to recommend to the State Election Commission (SEC) the use of ballot papers instead of EVMs for local elections.
