CBI probe sought into ‘kidney trade’

PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, who is currently on a 108-day padayatra across Tamil Nadu, on Sunday called for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take charge of the multi-state illegal kidney trade case, asserting that only a central agency can uncover the full truth.

He accused the state government of failing to initiate such a probe and pointed to the involvement of a private hospital linked to a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the case. "If the government is just, it should welcome the inquiry that the Madras High Court mandates. A private hospital owned by a DMK member is involved in the case. The truth will only be uncovered through a CBI investigation," he said.
