Kamal Haasan defends DMK alliance
The Free Press Journal - Bhopal
|November 19, 2025
Actor-politician Kamal Haasan has responded to criticism over his decision to form an alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam after publicly attacking the party during his campaign.
He insisted that the alliance was made to protect democratic values and guard state rights. Haasan, who founded the Makkal Needhi Maiam party, declared that the arrangement with DMK was “the need of the hour” and rooted in his belief that the state must be shielded from the rise of what he called “fascism” — a reference to his prior criticisms of central policies. He stated that he had joined the DMK electoral front for the “good of the nation”.
