Trump ally Kirk shot dead at US university

Right-wing political commentator and conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot dead on Wednesday while delivering a speech at Utah Valley University, according to The New York Times.

A university spokesperson stated that Kirk was about 20 minutes into his presentation when a gunshot was heard from a nearby building. The university issued an alert informing students that "a single shot was fired on campus toward a visiting speaker," and confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody.
