SUGAR-FREE DESSERTS: ARE THEY REALLY HEALTHY?
The Daily Guardian
|September 30, 2025
Sugar-free desserts have become a buzzword in modern kitchens, especially for people aiming to cut down on sugar while still indulging their sweet tooth.

With rising awareness about diabetes, obesity, and lifestyle-related health issues, many bakeries and home cooks now promote "sugar-free" cakes, brownies, and sweets as healthier alternatives. But are they really as good for you as they sound? Let's explore.
When a dessert is labeled "sugar-free," it usually means it does not contain refined white sugar. Instead, it may use natural sweeteners like honey, jaggery, dates, or artificial ones such as stevia, sucralose, and aspartame. While this does reduce direct sugar intake, it doesn't automatically make the dessert low in calories or free from health risks.
