RANGE ROVER SV LWB REVIEW | THE FASTEST & MOST LUXURIOUS RANGE ROVER TESTED!
The Daily Guardian
|February 13, 2025
While I've been driving cars and motorcycles for over three decades now, this is my 12th year into "officially" reviewing them. However, until now, in all the articles I've written, I never thought of skipping the word "review" in the heading. This time, I seriously contemplated it, primarily because of two reasons.
The first reason is the continually increasing realisation that no auto journalist in the world is qualified to review these ultra-premium vehicles. If we were that good, we would be working in some manufacturer's R&D department instead of masquerading as experts and having the audacity to tell the actual R&D people what they should be doing. The second reason is that in order to even properly TRY to review a vehicle like the Range Rover SV LWBwhich, at approx. 5 crore rupees, is the most expensive Land Rover vehicle at present-one would need at least 30 days, and not the three that we get. That said, I am not only thankful to the good chaps at JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) India for including me in that small list of auto journalists who they THINK will treat their vehicles nicely, but also for not shying away in actually sending the vehicle despite knowing that I won't hesitate in highlighting any shortcomings that I'd find. So did I find any? Read on to know...
DESIGN & PRESENCE
It’s not a secret that the Range Rover has been the most preferred vehicle of Indian celebrities for quite sometime now. Google “celebs with Range Rovers” and you might be surprised to see a really big number of film stars, sportspersons, television actors, politicians, renowned industrialists, etc., who own Range Rovers. Interestingly, the majority of these celebs own the Range Rover Autobiography (review published here last month on the 23rd), which in itself can be considered the flagship Range Rover not just in India, but globally as well; however, the SV is even above the Autobiography, thereby truly justifying the “Special” in its name (SV is essentially Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations unit). That’s why, I have even more respect for those who choose the RR SV. Among the Indian film stars, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan apparently have one each, while almost all of them have the LWB (Long Wheelbase) versions.
