PM Modi to Flag Off Kashmir Rail Link, Unveil Rs 46,000 Cr Development Projects

A multi-layered security blanket has been deployed across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on Friday, during which he will inaugurate the historic Kashmir rail link and dedicate several development projects worth over Rs 46,000 crore in Katra, officials said.
This will be PM Modi's first visit to the Union Territory since the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, a counter-terror offensive in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the iconic Chenab Bridge—the world's highest railway arch bridge—and India's first cable-stayed Anji Bridge, both celebrated feats of engineering. He will also flag off Vande Bharat trains to mark the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL)—a 272-km rail corridor that now connects the Kashmir Valley directly with the rest of India.
