Opting to bat first, Punjab Kings got off to a blazing start despite losing opener Jonny Bairstow early. Priyansh Arya (47 off 23) set the tone with a flurry of boundaries before falling to Rashid Khan. Glenn Maxwell, expected to make an impact, was dismissed for a golden duck, leaving Punjab in a precarious position. However, skipper Shreyas Iyer played a scintillating knock of 97* off 51 balls, falling just short of a well-deserved century. His innings was laced with 10 fours and five sixes, providing the backbone of Punjab's imposing total.
