Aircraft manufacturer Boeing on Thursday reacted to initial reports, stating it was "aware" of the incident and "working to gather more information" after an Air India-operated Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad.
The London-bound flight AI-171, carrying 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members, went down in the Meghaninagar area near the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport minutes after takeoff. The plane had issued a mayday call before losing contact with air traffic control.
