The Delhi Government on Friday notified the Delbi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Act, 2025, along with its corresponding Rules, bringing into force a comprehensive legal framework to regulate private school fees and strengthen financial transparency across the education sector.

- TIKAM SHARMA | ARZU SETH

Education Minister Ashish Sood said the Education Department has begun implementing all procedures mandated under the Act and Rules, including scrutiny of fee proposals, permissions, reporting requirements and monitoring mechanisms for private institutions.

Taking a sharp swipe at previous administrations, Sood said the issue of arbitrary private school fee hikes had been ignored for nearly three decades. “Earlier governments ignored this critical issue for 27 years, but our government implemented this historic reform within days,” he said, adding that the legislation sets a new benchmark for administrative efficiency and good governance in Delhi.
