Nature and travel in Rajasthan: Discover the natural soul of Rajasthan

While the royal grandeur and historical richness of the state are well-celebrated, Rajasthan is also a hidden gem for nature lovers and travel enthusiasts seeking unique experiences. From lush forests and serene lakes to vibrant bird sanctuaries and eco-friendly desert resorts, Rajasthan offers a spectacular journey into nature's marvels, beyond its well-known heritage trails.

1. A LAND OF CONTRASTS: ARID DESERTS AND GREEN OASES Rajasthan's geography is diverse. The western part is dominated by the Thar Desert, a vast expanse of sand dunes, camels, and sparse vegetation. Yet, this desert landscape is interspersed with green belts, water bodies, and semi-arid zones where life flourishes in harmony with nature.

In contrast, the Aravalli Hills, one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, run diagonally across the state. These hills are home to dense forests, scenic waterfalls (especially in the monsoon), and vibrant flora and fauna. This geographical contrast gives travelers an opportunity to explore both the rugged beauty of the desert and the lush serenity of forests—all within the same state.

2. WILDLIFE SANCTUARIES AND NATIONAL PARKS Rajasthan's commitment to conservation has led to the development of several wildlife sanctuaries and national parks that protect endangered species and attract eco-tourists and photographers from around the world.

RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK (SAWAI MADHOPUR) Perhaps the most famous of all, Ranthambore is a former royal hunting ground turned wildlife sanctuary. Nestled between the Aravalli and Vindhya ranges, the park is known for its thriving population of Bengal tigers, which can often be spotted during safari tours. The presence of Ranthambore Fort inside the park adds a historical dimension to its natural beauty.
