INDIA, GERMANY SEAL 19 AGREEMENTS, EXPAND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

India and Germany on Monday strengthened their strategic partnership with key after talks between PM Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

India and Germany on Monday announced an extensive package of defence, technology, climate, skilling and people-to-people initiatives following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during the latter's official visit to India.

The outcomes of the visit include 19 agreements, memoranda of understanding and joint declarations of intent, along with seven major policy and institutional announcements, signalling a deepening of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership across security, economic and global governance domains.

In the defence sector, the two sides signed a Joint Declaration of Intent on strengthening bilateral defence industrial cooperation, aimed at promoting long-term industry partnerships, technology collaboration, and co-development and co-production of defence platforms and equipment.

Economic engagement was reinforced through a Joint Declaration of Intent on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation by establishing a Chief Executive Officers’ Forum, to be integrated into and function as part of the Joint India-Germany Economic and Investment Committee.
