INDIA COMMENCES U-19 WORLD CUP CAMPAIGN WITH HIGH HOPES
The Daily Guardian
|January 20, 2024
As the most successful defending champion in Under-19 World Cup history, India is set to kick off its campaign against Bangladesh today, led by Captain Uday Saharan.
-
The mission is clear: uphold the tradition of excellence. The five-time champion Indian team, placed in Group A, will face its Asian rival in the initial round, followed by matches against Ireland and America. India clinched its first title in 2002 under the captaincy of Mohammad Kaif and has since claimed victory in 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022.
Originally slated to take place in Sri Lanka, the ICC tournament was shifted to South Africa at the last moment. The competition features four groups, with the top three teams from each group progressing to the Super Six. Semi-finals are scheduled for February 8 and 6, while the final will unfold on February 11 in Benoni.
