The United States has expressed optimism about completing several major pending defense sales to India, underscoring the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.
This was conveyed during a meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon on July 1, 2025.
Secretary Hegseth emphasized the shared security concerns that both countries face in the Indo-Pacific region. "The U.S. and India are mutually aware of the security concerns in the region, and both nations have the ability to counter that threat together," he said, highlighting the importance of the evolving defense collaboration.
