Court annuls appointment of 26k teachers, defiant Mamata blames SC, Oppn

"This is a case wherein the entire selection process has been vitiated and tainted beyond resolution.
Manipulations and frauds on a large scale, coupled with the attempted cover-up, have dented the selection process beyond repair and partial redemption. The credibility and legitimacy of the selection are denuded, -41-page judgement authored by the CJI."
On a day when the Supreme Court Division Bench of Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar ruled that 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff recruited in West Bengal through a process "riddled with corruption, manipulation and fraud" would be sacked, State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee defiantly refused to accept blame for the lapse.
She instead blamed the Supreme Court and the Opposition BJP and CPM for orchestrating the crisis.
