Cong Rallies Behind Bajwa as Police Files FIR

The case has been registered under Sections 197(1)(D) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Bajwa, who was summoned for questioning at 12 noon on Monday, did not appear before the police. His legal team, however, reached Mohali and requested a day's time, which was granted by the authorities. The FIR was filed based on a complaint by a woman police official, Taranpreet Kaur, who alleged that Bajwa's televised statement had the potential to incite fear and disrupt public peace.

The controversy erupted following Bajwa's statement during a television interview where he claimed that 50 hand grenades had entered Punjab, of which 18 had already been used and 32 were yet to be deployed. According to the FIR, Bajwa failed to disclose the source of his information or the intended targets, thereby allegedly attempting to spread panic and communal disharmony.
