CISF officer becomes first from force to scale Mt Everest

In a landmark achievement, Lady Sub-Inspector Geeta Samota of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has become the first officer from the force to successfully climb Mount Everest, the world's highest peak at 8,849 meters.

She reached the summit on the morning of 19 May.

Geeta's accomplishment is not only a personal milestone but a proud moment for the entire nation and the CISF. Hailing from Chak village in Rajasthan's Sikar district, she overcame numerous challenges throughout her journey, emerging as a symbol of determination and inspiration.

Joining the CISF in 2011, Geeta discovered her passion for mountaineering. With no formal mountaineering team in the CISF at that time, she paved her own path. She was the only woman in her 2015 basic mountaineering course at the ITBP training institute in Auli and later completed an advanced course in 2017, becoming the only CISF personnel to do so.
